Senior pet care
Cats and dogs become seniors at about 8 years old. We recommend a wellness exam once or twice a year from then on.

Our 1488 Wellness Plans, powered by Snout, cover wellness and preventative care for your senior dog or cat.
They pair with a 1488 Petflex Plan for even more value.
Senior pets have special needs. More frequent exams let us watch their overall health and quality of life, and treat problems early.
What care do senior pets ages 8 and older need?
- Vaccines as needed. Dogs: DHLPP, Rabies, Bordetella and Influenza. Cats: FVRCP, Rabies and Feline Leukemia. Bordetella and Influenza depend on your dog's daily activities and surroundings.
- Annual heartworm and intestinal parasite screening, plus flea and tick prevention
- Dental assessment. Older cats and dogs often have toothaches and gum infections, and we offer advanced dental care to keep their teeth healthy.
- Laser therapy for pain management and for arthritis and joint disease
- Therapeutic drug monitoring, as needed
- Nutrition recommendations: customized, age-appropriate diets
Joint pain and mobility problems are common in older pets. Our physical rehabilitation program can help.
